Anna Guthrie laps up the Edinburgh Fringe benefits

Actress Anna Guthrie does not believe in letting the grass grow under his feet.

The 27-year-old from Lochmaben, is about a very busy month in Edinburgh.

She won roles in two Russian Chekhov play to be made outside the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

And his new company, mystery and murder on the menu, is also performing at the Fringe.

The former student of the Academy of Lockerbie, said: "I am absolutely delighted.They are both up my street and I have one of the best places for the Fringe - Duddingston Kirk Manse Gardens, which are on the side of the seat of Arthur.

"It will be a little crazy, because I will have to enter two characters for the roles in The Bear and The Cherry Orchard, and will have to do both on most days.

"Both are comedies and fun, but I also like the more serious stuff too. In The Bear, I play a widow and have a character similar to The Cherry Orchard, which is a very good adaptation by playwright Clifford called Joe."

She looks forward to seeing many friends and family to the performance, which are: The Bear - August 9 to 13 and 16-20, and The Cherry Orchard - August 10 to 14 17 to 21, and 24-28.

Anna, right, added: "It's always good to see friends and family encourage me.

"You'd be surprised how many people come from the rest of Lochmaben and Dumfries and Galloway at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

"It is good that I was seeking and giving me support."

This will be the fifth year of Anna at the Fringe and this time she hooked up with Theatre Alba. Apart from the fringe, it has set up his own company, murder mystery, which is already proving a huge success.

Anna, who was trained as an actress at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London - whose alumni include the likes of Dame Judi Dench and Sir Laurence Olivier - likes to live in the bustling center of Edinburgh and landed a role in the BBC drama The 39 Steps.

She said: "I love doing live theater and having this interaction with the public.

"However, acting is such a difficult undertaking, I decided I had to do something to bring additional revenue and thus Mystery and Murder on the menu arrived.
