SKyPAC To Offer Building Tours

"I actually think these types of buildings this one in particularly we want the community to see as Bowling Green's living room or town hall so the more people that can come in and feel like they have a certain since of ownership of it because they have seen it under construction is very important," he said.

That is why starting July 7th, on every Tuesday and Thursday there will be tours of the building for anyone who wants to see the performing arts center while it is still being built and this is something that has worked in the past.

"I' ve done it in Yacama Washington Tacoma Washington Anchorage Alaska and it makes a difference it allows people to see it before the paint is on the wall and allow people to really understand what's going on behind the scenes in a very real sense," he said.

Tomlinson says he wants Bowling Green to know this is their building and by letting them see the product while it's in progress, they can get that feeling.

"Again its a way to let the community have a sense of ownership understand this is a community building it's being built for the community so come on in and enjoy it even before there is something going on stage," he said.

He believes that when people take the tour, the sheer size of the building on the inside will astound those in attendance.

"As you walk through this building and the way we'll take people through once they go on stage and see how big the stage really is and how big the auditorium really is and how great the site lines will be and the acoustics the looks on people's faces will be pretty incredible," he said.

Musical Event at Alaska Center for the Performing Arts – “MASS ...

On Sunday, March 20th at 4 pm at Atwood Concert Hall – Alaska Center for the Performing Art, there is an interpreted performance of “MASS”. It’s the largest and most theatrical of the great composer/conductor’s works. Mass is a simple name for a soaring work that fills the stage with choruses, a Broadway sized cast, orchestra and even a marching band. Originally commissioned for the opening of The Kennedy Center in 1971, this stunning production combines the music of Bernstein, Grammy-winning pop icon Paul Simon and Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Godspell, Wicked) in what promises to be the musical event of the year.

Also, there’s a pre-performance lecture at 3pm. Download the flyer .
