Y is for Yummy ... There are so many yummy treats that you and your kids can make this summer! Try these ideas:
» Add a single chocolate chip to the hollow centers of raspberries for an extra special treat!
» Cut cantaloupe, watermelon and honeydew melon into bite-sized chunks (or into fun shapes with a metal cookie cutter) as soon as you bring them home. Store in the refrigerator for a quick, cold go-to snack or after-dinner delight.
» Grape or cherry tomatoes make quick and easy lunches when added to chunks of cheese and whole wheat crackers. They are especially fun stacked onto skewers or toothpicks with other bites of fresh produce.
» Smear peanut butter onto bite-sized pieces of banana or crisp apple, pretzels or celery stalks. Then have kids dip them into a variety of toppings (granola, cereal, sprinkles, chocolate chips, etc.). This is a fun project and snack for little hands.
» Freeze grapes on a skewer for a fresh fruit "popsicle."
» Fill a muffin tin or ice cube tray with a variety of veggies and two different dips. Make a game of deciding which veggies taste better with which dips. Do the same thing for a dessert tray filled with fruits and graham cracker sticks dipped in yogurt, fruit dip or whipped cream.
