Big-buzzed events (June 20)
■ The Texas-Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament begins today at various city golf courses.
■ Banjo picker and story teller Dan Gibson will be at the Wichita Falls Public Library, 600 Eleventh St., in Room 205. He’ll tell a few stories and share toe-tapping tunes at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
■ The Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse series will screen “How to Train Your Dragon” at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Cinemark 14 in Parker Square. Admission is $1.
■ The Ken Nelson Big Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at South Weeks Park on Southwest Parkway and Taft as part of the Recreation Department’s Summer Outdoor Concert Series. Admission is free.
■ Don’t miss Adler’s Appetite per forming Wednesday night at the Iron Horse Pub. Steve Adler was a member of Guns N’ Roses.
■ Joe Ely will be in concert at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kemp Center for the Arts.
■ A favorite summer time activity, Bug Fest , will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at River Bend Nature Center. $5 per person (free for those 2 and younger.)
■ Rockin’ Th’ Falls runs from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the MPEC. Redefining the Fall, Black and White, Shaved Fish, Komatryp, It Hurts to Be Dead and False Control will perform. $10 in advance; $15 the day of the show (plus facility fees.

Library Postcards: Public Library, South Bend, Indiana
[LIB1833] The South Bend Board of Education in 1894, purchased a lot at the corner of Main and Wayne St. in downtown South Bend. The cornerstone was laid in the spring of 1895 and on May 8, 1896, the Library opened to the public. By the late 1920's, it was evident that because of its growth, a larger facility would be needed to house the main library. Tippecanoe Place was one of the buildings which seemed to surface when a new library building was discussed. Because of it's victorian features, this building become known as "The Castle".
