Kamiakin drama club offers class this week
The drama club at Kamiakin High School has some open spots in its Summer Drama Clinic for middle school students.
The clinic is from 3 to 6 p.m. daily through Friday at the Kamiakin auditorium at 601 N. Arthur St.
This clinic includes theater games and workshops and ends with a performance for families and parents. Designed to encourage the love of drama in students in grades six to eight, proceeds from the clinic benefit the Kamiakin drama department.
Register at the door. Cost is $25 per student and includes a T-shirt. For more information, call 942-4131.
Kamiakin High play on stage Jan. 28-30
Kamiakin High's play, The Night of January 16th , continues at 7 p.m. Jan. 28-29 with a 2 p.m. matinee Jan. 30.
Performances are in the auditorium at Kamiakin High School, 600 N. Arthur St., Kennewick.
The play is co-directed by husband and wife team Candy and Rex Olsen. The lead attorneys in the drama, which revolves around a woman on trial for murder, are portrayed by Taryn Meacham as the defense attorney and Amanda White as the prosecuting attorney.
'Night in January' focuses on justice system
Candy Olsen had a key role in Night in January when she was in high school in 1968.
Now the Kamiakin High drama teacher is directing the same play, which opens Jan. 27 in the auditorium at Kamiakin High in Kennewick. It's a joint drama venture between Kamiakin and Kennewick High schools.
Olsen said she chose the challenging story line for this drama for a number of reasons, most importantly to increase awareness of the country's justice system and that it truly does work.
Kamiakin bringing 'Earnest' back to the stage
Oscar Wilde's comedy The Importance of Being Earnest puts an interesting mix of characters in Victorian London.
Kamiakin High drama students will tackle the delightfully silly comedy in the school's auditorium. Curtain time is 7 p.m. March 18 with a matinee at 2 p.m. March 19.
The story follows the antics of British blue bloods and their frivolous priorities when it comes to arranged marriages.
Boys & Girls Clubs need votes for Storm camp
Members of the Prosser and Benton-Franklin Counties Boys & Girls Clubs are trying to bring the Seattle Storm Trophy Tour to the area through an online vote.
The clubs are among 10 from the region competing in an online vote that ends Thursday.

After taking a hiatus in 2009, the original organizers of the event, the Kamiakin High School Dance Team, teamed up last year with First Night Tri-Cities organizers to revive the show. A second round of auditions is at 6 pm Wednesday in the auditorium
