Saint Seiya Chronicle Is A Musou Style Game From Tecmo Koei

A friend of mine was like “Now the PS3 is better than the 360″ and linked me to a picture showing Saint Seiya being PS3 exclusive.  I have to just laugh now.  Obviously the company to get the rights to develop the game is only one of the worst game developers of recent time.  Can’t ruin just one anime(Gundam,) nor two(Fist of the North Star,) but three(Saint Seiya.)  You are seriously on a roll Koei.  I wonder how many well loved anime series you’ll ruin with your garbage Musou gameplay before the end of this gen.  Keep up the good… errr… terrible work.

I for one can’t wait to mash the square button repeatedly on end once again./sarcasm.

Hm… I would love a Seiya game in HD (the pic above looks really good and resembles closely the Araki Shigo/Himeno Michi style), but I’m not terribly excited about the Musou gameplay which could get repetitive, which is why I haven’t really played Gundam or Fist of the North Star.. I hope the boss fight against the Gold Saints would be good though (wonder if this is just Sanctuary), will see.. 

For now I’m just content looking at the Myth Cloth figures on my desk :)

That’s cool. I’d look forward to it more but who knows if it’ll come over to the US. Oh well if our friends over in Europe get it I might import. :D Then again I don’t know if I really want to import a Dynasty Warrior game. lol I’m not gonna insult them like most people do their actually a guilty pleasure of mine. May be repetitive but I still find them pretty fun. XD

Hm well maybe if I’m lucky the US might see the game. After all Fist of the North Star didn’t fare to well in the US ether (we only got like 36 episodes dubbed on TV and then it was canceled) so maybe it might happen. Of course it’s a big maybe but I can dream right?!!! Oh well time to watch the Opening Song again!!!

You brought up the mash square button argument, which I sadly have to agree with, to some extend at least.

So far the developers managed to put some good challenges and ideas into their games, but they always sell their games short by not encouraging the higher difficulty levels. It’s a shame, because that’s were I think the games’ meat is.

Chapter 1: What is Mixed Martial Arts?

            Before we go into detail about the legal or literal definition of what constitutes MMA, let us examine some common misconceptions about MMA:

1)      MMA is “no holds, barred, unregulated, street fighting”.

This view is ironically the sports own fault. Early UFC events were in fact advertised as “no holds barred”, “no rules” fighting. This was of course a lie, but it was still marketed as such, which led a number of prominent politicans such as former presidental nominee John McCain to rally against the sport as “ human cockfighting ”. . In the early days of Japanese MMA, and to lesser extent today, this statement is more or less true. Many prominent Japanese MMA stars started or moonlighted as Pro Wrestlers (Kazushi Sakuraba, Ikuhisa Minowa, Josh Barnett). One of the central differences between American and Japanese MMA is how they regard their Pro Wrestling roots. (Before someone comments on it. Yes, I know Ken Shamrock was a pro wrestler and WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio almost got decapitated by Mirko Cro Cop)

3)      MMA is “two guys rolling around on the mat instead of being men and boxing”.

I will restate this for about the millionth time. They are very different sports. One of the distinctive features of the sport is that it does continue on the ground. If you don’t enjoy the ground work, it is because you:

a) Do not understand it. Which is common, there really is no basis from which to learn about it for alot of sports fans.

b) Watching a Jon Fitch fight or George St. Pierre is fighting a striker. I am joking… kind of.

c) Maybe the sport is not for you. Which is cool, go watch an alphabet soup Heavyweight boxing championship exclusively on espn3 because ESPN wouldn’t let it postpone a rerun of a 30 for 30 movie.

4) MMA is the modern equivalent of the Roman gladiator games.

            This statement is basically Zuffa’s fault. They have been opening UFC broadcasts with the stupid Gladiator style opening package for years now. We also love to refer to fighters as “Warriors” which is a fairly inaccurate statement (with the notable exception of those fighters who had previously served in the military Bad@#! Dudes like Brian Stann ). While there are MANY reasons while this statement is laughably untrue we will just hit the big ones.
